SiteWorks is provided to individual u3as who have signed the TAT Terms and Conditions, as a Managed WordPress website, in summary, this:

• Removes the responsibility of maintaining the server configuration and its management from the local Website Administrator.
• Ensures that regular backups are taken and correctly stored.
• Maintain the security of the SiteWorks system by ensuring the server’s antivirus and related software are configured and updated.
• Verifying that any updating of plugins in the SiteWorks distribution does not introduce security or usability issues.
• Provides an oversight of all the individual WordPress sites to ensure:
  • Any third-party plugin uploaded does not impact the security of the individual u3a site and more importantly, the whole, SiteWorks system.
  • Monitoring use of storage by individual sites to ensure “fair usage”, principal ensuring that backup files and video files are not stored on the server and that excessively large image files are not uploaded using methods that bypass the media library and the associated Imsanity plug in.

As part of the managed hosting solution, the following URL and email address in the General Settings (Settings ⇒ General for the Dashboard) are populated when the site is migrated or set up by the System Administrator and MUST not be changed (since Oct 2024 these are locked):

• WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are set to https://name.u3asite.uk, where name refers to your local u3a.
• Administration Email Address is set to sysadmin-alert@u3asite.uk. This email address is common to all u3a hosted sites and gives the System Administration Team notification of activities on the individual u3a site that may give rise to security concerns.
