A user’s individual Profile Screen is accessible from the main navigation menu by selecting Profile or your name link at the top right of the WordPress screen under name. Editing your profile allows the user to specify their name and how it will be displayed on your site, modify the e-mail address (for administrative purposes), other personal information, and personal options. The screen is divided into several sections as discussed below, if the information is changed, it must be confirmed by selecting Update Profile at the bottom of the screen
Personal Options #
- Visual Editor: Checking this box disables the visual editor when writing, and uses the plain HTML editor. This is not advised
- Syntax Highlighting: Checking this box disables the syntax highlighting when editing code.
- Admin Color Scheme: Allows a user to modify the colours of the administrative screen.
- Keyboard Shortcuts: Not required in the SiteWorks application.
- Toolbar: Check the box to display the Toolbar across the top when viewing the site.
- Language: You can select the language you wish to use while using the Administration Screen without affecting the language site visitors see.
Name #
Gives the username, first and last name and nickname of the user, and how they are used
- Username, this is set by the administrator and cannot be changed.
- First name and Last Name if required
- A nickname, the default is the username, but can be changed by the user.
- The Display name publicly as allows the user to select from a drop-down menu how their name is displayed on a post. This default is first and last name. The user can choose from several options:
- Nickname
- Username,
- Various first and last name arrangements.
Contact Information #
- The email that the user provided when they became a user. This can differ from the email recorded in the u3a contact section.
- If a user has a personal website the address can be entered.
Bibliographical Information #
- Bibliographical Info allows individual users to set up a biography. It is strongly recommended that this is not undertaken as this information may be visible on external sites.
- A profile picture can be added, however, this requires setting up a Gravatar account, which is not recommended for most users.
Account Management #
- Allows the setting of a new password, users should refer to password management when undertaking this task. Any new password should be Strong.
- Log Out Everywhere Else, provides the capability to log out from a session on another device, e.g. a smartphone or another computer.
Application Password #
- Not required for the SiteWorks application
